Charles Tarver Obituary

Charles Larry “Bay” Tarver, son of the late Eddie Tarver, Sr. and Charlie Mae Tarver, was born on March 20, 1952 in Pahoke, FL. He attended Lake County Training School and Carver Heights High School in Leesburg, Florida where he was a drummer in the Carver Heights Marching Band. Bay was also an avid swimmer and diver in the Annual Carver Heights Water Show for many years under Coach Hubert O. Dabney. He accepted Christ as his personal savior and continued his walk with God under the leadership of his son, Brandon Sams, at Little Lake Weir Prayer House. He had a deep passion for driving semi-trucks and took to the roads as a truck driver in his early 20’s. He drove trucks for over 30 years and upon his retirement, he adopted the motto, “My time behind the wheels is over, but being a trucker never ends!!” Bay answered God’s call to join him in heaven on October 10, 2020 at 7:42am. Bay was diagnosed with cancer in February 2020 and he fought valiantly to the end. He was not one to complain or felt sorry for himself. He truly appreciated and was deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support during the final stages of his battle. Bay died at peace with man, at peace with himself and at peace with God. Bay was married in holy matrimony to Shelia Terry-Tarver on September 30, 2017. This union was truly blessed with true love, honor, and commitment. His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his devoted wife, Sheila Terry-Tarver of Weirsdale, FL; Children, Charmane Tarver-Gaines (Eric) of Winston-Salem, NC; Latanya Tarver of Jacksonville, FL; Kacie Carolina of Greensboro, NC; Shayla Garvin of Atlanta, Ga; Charlishia Singleton of Tampa, FL; Kayla McNealy of Leesburg, FL, Brandon Sams (Lakeisha) and Jireh Evere', of Weirsdale, FL; Twenty (20) Grandchildren, Alayshia Gaines and Asia Gaines of Winston-Salem, NC; Briyonna Taylor, Brionne Taylor, R’mahni Davis, and Wanisha Robinson of Jacksonville, FL; Jakyri Covington, Jalisa Covington, Kaniya Bond, Tre’ Bond of Greensboro, NC; Jalyn Hay, Jadyn Hay, Mymphis Dixon of Atlanta, GA; Marcelle Daley, Malachi Daley of Leesburg, FL; Jy’asia Sams, Brandon Sams,Jr., Javari Sams, A’shawn Whitehead, Josiah Whitehead of Weirsdale, FL; Two Great-Grandchildren, Taylor Cooper and Messiah Sams; Sisters, Lucy Tarver-Jenkins of Leesburg, FL and Phyllis Tarver-Li'le of Cleveland, TN; Brother, Charlie Tarver (Margaret) of Royal, FL; Mother-in-Law, Laverne Terry; Sisters-in-Law, Veronica King and Lawanna Locke' (Anthony) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
